Our home is ever growing. We are homesteaders, striving for self-sufficiency, peace, and beauty. Having a family farm has been a dream of mine and my husbands for a long time. Last year we were able to purchase our own home, our own land, and our own future. We have spent a long time dreaming and this last year has been full of patiently and impatiently implementing. We have started many projects, finished a few, and made plans for many many more. We’ve also begun to understand that homesteading is primarily a dance of starting with a plan for the day, then adjusting the steps when we get outside and realize there are approx. 30,000 other things need to be achieved first. Happily we learn these steps…well mostly happily.
Today we learned the ground is already too hard to continue digging by hand for our runoff system. A project we probably should have finished months ago. But we also stacked a cord of wood and figured out a better storage system for it. It’s give and take. Everyday is a chance to learn something new and I am finally understanding how to seize this.
One step and stumble at a time we move forward.
This blog will chronicle our journey and allow you readers to follow along and meet our growing family (most new additions will be of the 4 legged or feathered variety). Thanks for reading and welcome home!
